Perdana University successfully hosted the Perdana University International Conference (PUIC) 2024, a premier event that brought together leading academics, industry professionals, and innovators under the theme “Sustainable Innovation for a Thriving Future.” The two-day conference, held at Wisma Chase Perdana, Kuala Lumpur, featured over 50 research presentations and nearly 100 participants from diverse sectors, exploring solutions for a sustainable and prosperous world.
Sustainable innovation, a key focus of PUIC 2024, underscores the integration of innovative technologies, practices, and ideas to promote environmental, economic, and social progress. This aligns with the conference’s aim to inspire collaborations that drive impactful change in areas such as technology, healthcare, education, and business.
YBhg. Datuk Wira Dr. Hj. Rais Hussin Hj. Mohamed Ariff, CEO of MRANTI and the Guest of Honour, delivered a compelling keynote, emphasizing the transformative impact of technology and partnerships on humanity’s future. “The decisions we make today, the technologies we embrace, and the partnerships we cultivate will shape not only the future of our industry but also the course of our collective humanity,” he stated, inspiring attendees to rethink innovation’s role in addressing global challenges.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Aniket Mukhopadhyay, President & CEO of Nippon Koei Mobility, highlighted his organization’s groundbreaking “Good City” campaign, aimed at unlocking the potential of cities worldwide. “This initiative is about creating urban spaces that enhance economic growth, quality of life, arts, culture and environmental sustainability,” he said, underscoring the campaign’s alignment with the conference’s core values.
PUIC 2024 also spotlighted emerging talent, including 17-year-old Adam Ikhwan Nor Ashraf from Kolej PERMATA@Pintar Negara, UKM, whose AI-powered analysis of proverbs from Malay, English, and African cultures showcased similarities between these languages, promoting understanding and unity between the different cultures.
Outstanding research was recognized with awards for Best Poster and Best Paper Presentations, celebrating innovation across topics such as workplace ergonomics, leadership in the digital economy, and mental health.
Perdana University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato Dr. Imran Ho Abdullah, expressed hope for lasting impact: “Let this be a moment not only of learning but also of inspiration, sparking innovative collaborations that extend beyond the conference.”
Conference Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Syriac Nellikunnel Devasia added, “This conference serves as a vibrant platform for academics, industry leaders, policymakers, and practitioners to exchange ideas, share groundbreaking research, and forge partnerships that drive meaningful change.”
By fostering dialogue and collaboration, PUIC 2024 reaffirmed Perdana University’s commitment to driving sustainable innovation and building a brighter future for all.
