About the event

An evidence-based look at nature and wellbeing

Perdana University’s Research Management Centre (RMC), together with the School of Occupational Therapy, opens this lecture to students, academics, researchers, healthcare practitioners and the wider public.

Time in natural environments has been linked to better physical health, lower stress, improved mood and sharper cognitive function. Professor Swami walks through the evidence behind those claims, explains the psychological mechanisms researchers propose, and closes with practical ways to build nature into daily routines — including for people living and working in dense urban areas.

A live question-and-answer segment follows the lecture.

  • Nature & health What the physiological evidence supports, and where it is still thin.
  • Mind & attention How exposure to green and blue space affects mood, stress and focus.
  • Everyday practice Small, realistic changes that fit an urban working week.
