Programme Overview
The Master of Science in Epidemiology (ODL) is a comprehensive postgraduate programme designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills to investigate and address public health challenges using epidemiological principles. Delivered through an open and distance learning (ODL) format, this coursework-based programme offers structured learning, flexibility, and accessibility, enabling working professionals and aspiring researchers to advance their expertise without compromising their personal or professional commitments. This programme emphasises the application of epidemiological methods to study disease patterns, identify risk factors, evaluate health interventions, and inform policy decisions. Entry Requirements
i. A Bachelor's Degree [Level 6, Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF)] in the field of Health with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.75 or equivalent, as accepted by the University Senate;
OR
ii. A Bachelor's Degree (Level 6, MQF) in the field of Health or related fields (Health) or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and not meeting CGPA of 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment;
OR
iii. A Bachelor's Degree (Level 6, MQF) in Health or related fields (Health) or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of five years’ working experience in the relevant field and rigorous internal assessment.
iv. Candidates without a qualification in Health or relevant working experience must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the University and meet the minimum CGPA based on (i) to (iii).
