Perdana University welcomed Sir Adrian Leonard Webb, a distinguished British academic and public administrator, on 10th February 2025.
Professor Sir Adrian Webb was an academic at the London School of Economics and Loughborough University; he was Deputy Vice Chancellor at Loughborough and Vice Chancellor at the University of Glamorgan. Sir Adrian has held numerous senior management positions and has contributed extensively to public service and consultancy across local and central government, including HM Treasury, DHSS, Home Office, DFES, and the Ministry of Justice, as well as in Wales. In addition to his leadership roles, he has been actively involved in the Third Sector, bringing his expertise to various organisations. He also serves on the Economic Ministerial Advisory Board of the Welsh Government, providing strategic insights to support economic development and policy-making.
His visit was an invaluable opportunity for insightful discussions on leadership, strategy, and the future of higher education. Drawing from his vast experience, Sir Adrian shared best practices in organisational strategy and the critical role of organisational culture in shaping a successful business model. He emphasised how strong, value-driven cultures can lead institutions and businesses to long-term success.
He also shed light on global trends transforming higher education, encouraging us to adapt and innovate in response to these shifts. A key takeaway? The importance of AI in education—a concept that challenges us to rethink how we shape learning for future generations.
