Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine has been established in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Medicine International. The US News & World Report’s ranking of America’s Best Hospitals has recognized The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medicine's flagship teaching hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, as the best hospital in the United States for over 20 years.

Founded upon the values, principles and academic ethos of The Johns Hopkins University, Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine offers an internationally recognized medical education minutes from downtown Kuala Lumpur. We seek innovative thinkers with a strong record of academic performance and the ambition to lead the advancement of the medical field for generations to come. PUGSOM is the only 4-year graduate entry medical program in Malaysia. 

Admission

Our highly selective admissions process ensures that students are admitted based solely on academic merit and our professional assessment of their potential for great success in the areas of clinical care and medical research.

Student Body

PUGSOM currently has 55 students, 24 in the first class and 31 in the second class. 53 of the students are Malaysian and come from diverse backgrounds. PUGSOM is committed to maintaining a student-centered teaching and learning environment that is highly individualized.

Living On and Around Campus

A variety of safe, convenient and affordable housing options are available for Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine students. A permanent residence hall will be under construction on our permanent campus in the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), a bucolic location on the outskirts of Putrajaya and 25 minutes from downtown Kuala Lumpur.

Academic and Career Support

Each student at Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine has a faculty advisor who mentors him or her for the duration of the four-year curriculum. Find more information in the Academic and Career Advising section of the Advising page.

After Perdana

Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine attracts students from across Malaysia who could otherwise attend medical colleges overseas. While the Perdana University medical degree prepares students to pass licensure exams for speciality training in the US and other countries, clinical work with local patient populations will lead many Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine graduates to choose to stay in Malaysia to serve as leading practitioners, researchers and educators in the medical field. Perdana University Hospital also plans to develop speciality training programs that will be available to PUGSOM graduates. 

Language of Instruction

All Perdana University Graduate School of Medicine coursework is conducted in English. Applicants who did not receive the baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an English-speaking institution may arrange for English language testing and transcript review.
