Perdana University has identified data sciences as one of its key thrust areas. Data sciences is a transformative science that is at the crux of multidisciplinary research, with a pivotal role in the growth of notable domains, such as natural sciences, engineering, information technology, medical and health sciences, and social sciences, among others. With the technological advancements in these knowledge domains, there is currently a high demand for data experts and data stewards. The Perdana University School of Data Sciences (PU-SDS) has been established with the vision of becoming a key driver for data sciences research, education and services with a global reach.

NovaGlobal Private Limited (NVG) is a Singapore based company operating primarily in the ASEAN region including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. The company is a leading system integrator for HPCC (High Performance Computing Clusters), Grid and Cloud Computing. It partners leading companies including IBM and NVIDIA in delivery cutting edge technologies for scientific computing.

Perdana University and NovaGlobal Private Limited entered into a memorandum of understanding on April 26, 2016, to collaborate and give effect to their common objectives of growing and developing informatics research, education and services.

The purpose of this MoU is to establish a framework for collaboration between Perdana University and NovaGlobal Private Limited for the following: –
a. Establish a student internship scheme;
b. Set up an exchange scheme for teaching, research, and development resources; and
c. Develop from time to time collaborative programs of mutual benefit

The MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Syed Ahmad Bin Hussein as the Perdana University representative and Mr. Ivan Ho Pak Kin as the NovaGlobal Private Limited representative. The signing was witnessed by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammad Asif Khan, Director of the Centre for Bioinformatics and Ms. Nurul Salwanie Che Wahid, Executive Officer of the Asia-Pacific BioInformatics Network (APBioNet).
