Professor Dr Zabidi Azhar bin Mohd Hussin

Professor Dr Zabidi Azhar bin Mohd Hussin graduated with an MBBS from University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, United Kingdom in 1985, and obtained his Diploma in Child Health (D.C.H) in 1987 and later the MRCP title from the Royal College of Physicians of United Kingdom in 1991. He is also a Fellow at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health of United Kingdom (RCPCH) since 1997. He specialises in the field of Paediatrics with a special interest in Paediatric Neurology and also Medical Education with a special interest in Bioethics and Communication Skills.
Professor Zabidi has an illustrious career that includes his professional capacity as a Professor of Paediatrics, medical education, administration, corporate sector, military and also the field of ethics. He started his academic career in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1991 and rose up the ranks to be the Professor of Paediatrics in the School of Medical Sciences, where he served until 2016. He has also served as Dean of the School from 1999 to 2005.
He is also a member of Expert Ethics Panel of the European Research Commission, Brussels, Head of Child Health Cluster of Malaysia National Professor Council, and is also a visiting Professor for Universitas Jeneral Soedirman, Indonesia and also American University of Sovereign Nations, USA.
His previous appointments include Chairman as National Conjoint Board for Medical Postgraduate Education, Vice President of the ASEAN Pediatric Federation, President of the Malaysian Paediatric Association, a member of the Board of Governors at Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (LAN) and a member of Council at the Malaysian Medical Council.
Professor Zabidi was the recipient of several recognitions and awards, including the Pingat Paduka Setia Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Terbilang (P.S.K) from His Royal Highness the Sultan of Kelantan, Research Fellow of Japan Society for Promotion of Science at Tokyo, Japan and Fellowship of International Development Programme of Australian Colleges and Universities, Australia.
He is also a member of several professional bodies and non-government organisations, including the International Council for Ethics Education, Malaysian Paediatrics Association, World Forum for Neurological Rehabilitation, Malaysian Epilepsy Society and the Malaysian Neuroscience Society. Professor Zabidi is also an Advisor/Consultant to the Kelantan Down Syndrome Centre and the Malaysian Drug Control Authority.
Professor Zabidi remains active in research projects and has published papers in Paediatric Neurology, General Paediatrics, Ethics and Medical Education. He is also a sought-after speaker in these fields.
Professor Zabidi joined Perdana University as the Deputy Vice Chancellor in January 2017, having also served as one of the Board of Governors for several years.
